Claire Sealey – Professional Development  Leader, Coach and Mentor

Claire is currently working for VSO, as an Education Management Adviser in Cambodia. 

In August 2019 she was appointed as a Consultant  at The Doon School, Dehradun, India  taking on the roles of Head of the Teacher Development Centre and Instruction Coach. 

Prior to that Claire worked for GEMS Education in Penang, Uganda and Dubai.    Whilst in Uganda she was also the Deputy Programme Director for the Varkey Foundation, setting up and embedding a country wide low cost teacher training programme.

She has over 30 years’ educational experience, mainly in the UK.  She has undertaken a variety of roles within schools and educational organisations including:

  • Headteacher

  • Vice Principal

  • Academy Standards and Improvements Leader

  • School Improvement Partner/COBIS Peer Accreditor/GEMs Reviewer

  • Additional Inspector for Tribal

  • University Lecturer (ITT)

  • Training and Development

  • Coach and Mentor

  • National College Regional Representative/Local Leader of Education/Consultant Headteacher

  • Child Protection and Safeguarding Lead

Claire’[s  main areas of expertise within education are linked to staff training and development, School Improvement, Inclusive Education and Pastoral Care. She passionately believes in life-long learning and building learning communities which enable and empower each other to work collaboratively towards achieving a shared aim and vision based on achieving outstanding results for all stakeholders.

Qualifications:  MA (Ed) (Open University), BSc (Econ) Social and Economic History-2:1 Hons (Swansea University), PGCE (Westminster College, Oxford), NPQH (National College of School Leadership), ILM 5 and 7 in (Executive) Coaching and Mentoring (Leeds Beckett University)

Michael Sealey

​

Mike has been involved in working with students for over thirty years.  A former football coach, he then went on to support work experience trainees from the local secondary schools in the UK in the retail industry before working on a more regional basis as an assessor for work experience placements.

Currently Mike is working at GEMS International School Pearl City, Penang, Malaysia where he is now the Head of ELL, having established and grown the Department since he joined in September 2017.  

Prior to that Mike worked for GEMS at WSO Silicon Oasis in Dubai, as a Mentor and Coach for secondary students and supported the Secondary Learning Support Assistants within the Achievement Centre (ACe).   He worked closely with the Heads of Houses to ensure that students well-being and pastoral needs were met and prioritized to enable each young person to fulfil and develop their full potential.

In August 2015 Mike moved to work for GEMS Cambridge International School Kampala, Uganda, where he was appointed to the position of Head of Sixth Form and again worked with the secondary team leading the Learning Support Assistants within the ACe team.   He taught IGCSE English as a Second Language, as well as supporting local Ugandan teachers, especially within the English Department,  in developing their professional practice within the secondary classroom.

Mike is an avid football fan and enjoys playing friendly 5 a side games as well as supporting Torquay United!   He is very excited about his new role in Penang working as a member of the secondary team to enable students to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
